Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is looking for a Deputy Chief Engineer for Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI). This leadership role is located in Chandler, Arizona. The Deputy provides leadership to ensure successful development and integration of a multi-stage booster propulsion system with the interceptor, development of avionics, All Up Round testing, lead Flight Test activities, as well as integration of the key interceptor guidance & control, software, and sensor technologies into the overall system, the associated kill-chain, and the models and simulations used to inform design and predict performance.

 

 Responsibilities:

·         Driving technical execution in support of major program events

·         Collaborating within the Office of the Chief Engineer to deliver exceptional customer value

·         Focusing horizontally on resolving high-level Systems challenges

·         Driving technical execution with an emphasis on GPI development and integration

·         Ensuring execution of overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule

·         Driving technical rigor into technical interchange meetings with GPI partners

·         Advising program technical leadership on program, schedule, and technical matters


Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field and 9 years of systems engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field and 7 years of systems engineering experience.

·         Technical leadership experience including total lifecycle, integrated product-team, and Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) leadership.

·         Experience in developing avionics, rocket motor and missile airframes

·         Experience developing planning, training, and technical briefings for wide ranging audiences including technician, engineer, sub-contractor, client, executive leadership.

·         U.S. Citizenship is required

·         Interim or Active Secret Security Clearance is required

·         Ability to travel is required.

·         Ability to work on location.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Engineering degree plus 14 years of experience is preferred; Master degree plus 12 years of experience is preferred

·         Broad systems development experience to include first-article concept development and operational deployment of new systems.

·         Robust understanding of both the development, operations, and sustainment of missile systems and their interactions with the Aegis Weapons System.

·         Prior experience in leadership as the prime contractor directing and coordinating execution of multiple sub-contractors toward an integrated solution.

·         Experience designing and executing cross-functional trade studies using requirements-based criteria assessments.


Salary Range: $152,100 USD - $228,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
