Space Systems is searching for an experienced Manager, Programs 2 to join the Program Engineering Management team to support the Avionics Design Group within the Launch Vehicles business unit located in Chandler, AZ.

The Avionics Design Group (ADG) program engineering manager (PEM) leads all engineering efforts in support of the existing ADG avionics designs & potential future design efforts.  The PEM executes project management, including integrated scheduling with NG departments outside of ADG.  For example: Manufacturing, Quality, Mission Assurance, Avionics Test, Procurement, Documentation, and Configuration Management.  The PEM provides technical leadership of the multidisciplinary engineering team to support the manufacturing, test, troubleshooting of NG-LV’s common avionics components in time to meet operations deadlines.  The PEM supports the NG department leads in managing resources and leading engineering execution to ensure delivery objectives are met. The PEM provides written and verbal status reporting to internal management.  The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge regarding space launch vehicle avionics technologies and operations and a thorough understanding of LVD internal processes and standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex problems are essential.  The PEM ensures that technical issues are resolved in timely fashion to minimize disruption of production activities, and leads efforts to streamline and improve efficiency. As new avionics design efforts are approved & funded by senior management, the development responsibility will fall to the PEM.  Ability to look strategically at the life cycle of products is essential.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 9 years directly related experience; Masters degree plus 7 years of experience.

U.S. Citizenship is required

Ability to obtain secret security clearance

Ability to travel 10% is required

Directly related experience in Program Management and Electronic Development Direct internal customer interface experienceVerbal and written communications with all levels of managementExtensive experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via EVMS.

Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined teams including Engineering, Procurement, Configuration Management, Program Management, Quality Assurance, Mission Assurance, System SafetyExtensive experience creating and delivering presentations to internal customers and senior leadership teams.Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes and configuration management.Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering DegreeFamiliarity with the LV developed common hardware products.Understanding of MDA MAP and PMAP requirements.EVMS experience.Experience with NGC Launch Vehicles internal standards, processes & digital toolsExperience working in an Agile development environment.


Salary Range: $127,700 USD - $191,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
