Northrop Grumman Aeronautics has an opening for a Program Director 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to support our advanced programs, located in Palmdale, California.

This is a Deputy role of the B-21 Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Production Business Area. In this role the candidate will report directly to the Vice President of B-21 Production and will have responsibility for all aspects of initial and follow-on B-21 aircraft production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead contracted programs and IRAD efforts focused on the scaling of manufacturing and production of the B-21 weapon system
  • Establish Long Range Strategic Plans (LRSP) associated with a robust program capability roadmap. Identify associated NCTA and Capital necessary to support the LRSP commitments. 
  • Establish capture plans following Business Acquisition Process guidelines, ensuring stakeholder approval of strategy, plans, and capture gates, while leading the team to successful execution of the strategy and plans.
  • Collaborate with the program customer to build value propositions for subsequent production lots while incorporating future technologies and capabilities. 
  • Collaborate with other program business areas (Development, Operations and Sustainment) to ensure alignment of growth strategies and captures with current program efforts, as well as ensuring seamless handoff of captured programs to the relevant business area.
  • Collaborate across Northrop Grumman sectors and industry partners to identify broader corporate strategies leveraging common technologies and program relevance and headwind.
  • Establish and manage performance dashboards to create program visibility at all levels.
  • Identify top-level risks, issues, and actions and ensure resolution.
  • Develop deliverables (i.e., monthly management report) and talking points for executive level engagements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years (combined) of related professional / military experience
  • Background in program management in the defense industry
  • Experience in manufacturing systems
  • Experience working with executives and senior leaders
  • Experience leading / aligning teams to achieve a common goal in a dynamic work environment
  • Experience managing communications with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated depth in technical and business acumen
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and advanced training in program management and capture management
  • The ability to address uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward-looking approach
  • Experience in program management across all phases of a program lifecycle
  • Experience with execution of large, multi-year development programs
  • Experience with Earned Value Management
  • Active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance
  • Complex weapons systems


Salary Range: $244,900 USD - $367,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
