Northrop Grumman, Mission Systems is looking for a Manger, Programs Level 1 to support manned platform integration and lifecycle sustainment programs within the Aircraft Survivability business unit. Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. This position is based in Rolling Meadows, IL, and although there may be an occasional opportunity, this is not a remote position.

Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.

Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer.

Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relative experience. A Master's degree and 3 years of experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated success aligning teams, organizations or employee resource groups to achieve a common goal.
  • The ability to address program uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward looking approach that identifies risks and opportunities, determines appropriate handling plans, and manages, controls, and communicates risks and opportunities throughout the lifecycle of the program.
  • The ability to effectively plan, define, establish, communicate, monitor, and control scope to ensure that all of the work required and only the work required is performed.
  • The ability to manage communications with stakeholders through organized processes to ensure that program information is defined, collected, shared, understood, stored and retrieved in a manner that effectively meets program and stakeholder needs.
  • The ability to initiate, develop, integrate, execute, direct and control program plans and cost and schedule baselines that meet both program contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contracting experience relative to integrated change management, negotiations, contract setup, and closeout; including the request for quotations or solicitations.
  • Experience with large integration programs. Subcontractor management experience. Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams. Proven proficiency with Tableau Software.
  • The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance.
  • The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves conflicts across all levels of the program.


Salary Range: $117,600 USD - $176,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
