Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Project Management to join our team of qualified, Diverse individuals.

The Principal Project Management role will lead a medium-sized cross functional team consisting of Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality personnel to successfully complete and deliver complex components and avionics. The candidate will be responsible for setting weekly rates, ensuring on time delivery to commits, and driving resolutions to issues impacting the work cells delivery performance.  

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Operate as one highly functioning team to reduce cycle time, increase quality, reduce waste, maximize value added work, and improve employee job satisfaction.

  • Provide product priorities to engineering, assembly, test, conformal coat and quality teams to deliver a quality product on or ahead of program need

  • Establish a balanced manufacturing cadence based on accurate operational touch times and cycle times for each product and each operation

  • Establish standardized material movement procedures to release picks, create kits and transport products

  • Proactively and reactively identify opportunities for mistake proofing in work instructions, fixtures, visual management, etc.

  • Create a visual workplace to identify if we are ahead or behind our manufacturing cadence, have too much or too little inventory, signal non-standard conditions and/or when help is required

  • Continually improve the process to increase quality and reduce cycle times, touch times and inventory

Basic Qualifications:                                                                                                                                               

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Business or Related Field with 6 years minimum of experience.6 Years with Bachelors; 4 Years with Masters

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels in the organization

  • Very strong Excel, Power Point and Word skills

  • Previous experience leading a small work team a plus

  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active security clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years

  • Experience in Leadership roles within the Aerospace and Defense industry, or within the military.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified

  • Experience maintaining facilities for classified work

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Salary Range: $72,400 USD - $108,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
