Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Principal Project Management to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Schedule a sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations relating to a specific portion of the product for guidance of production work, material readiness and all aspects of scheduling related to meeting program needs:

  • Load, analyze and monitor demands in the ERP system to create robust & attainable schedules.

  • To support future capabilities for the sector, candidate should also have knowledge of capacity & resource planning to work in parallel with Industrial Engineering for level loading of schedules.

  • Project Management and analysis of manufacturing scheduling activities including coordination across multiple disciplines such as: production planning, quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, material requirements planning and Program Scheduling.

  • Ensure production control and parts integrators expedite appropriate material based on master production schedule and critical path analysis.

  • Provides visibility into and advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production risks to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed to meet production and Program needs.

  • Able to schedule and plan detailed operations from engineering drawings, engineering orders, change notices, and other engineering releases.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong verbal communication and customer service skills and able to work in a teamwork environment.

  • Presents schedules, power point presentations to leadership, leads schedule meetings with IPT’s.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 6 years of experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Project Management, Logistics, Material Requirements Planning OR Masters Degree plus 4 years experience OR High School Diploma/G.E.D plus 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations, Project Management, Material Requirements Planning. 

  • Experience with Scheduling, SAP, ERP, or MRP systems 

  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance OR SCI access 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Project Management or Engineering

  • Data analysis and problem solving skills 

  • APICS Certification 

  • Understanding of Master Production Scheduling principles 

  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity, capacity and efficiency measurements 

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense Industry 


Salary Range: $86,300 USD - $129,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
