Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Project Manager to join our Stike team. The selected candidate will be part of Program Integration Team.

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This onsite project management position will support an Integrated Product Team (IPT) on a restricted effort in Palmdale, CA or Rancho Bernardo, CA, with some travel between those two sites. The overall responsibilities include executable tasks that will enable IPT leadership to achieve operational excellence.

Primary duties will include facilitating cross-IPT and cross-Business Area integration, managing the operational aspects of ongoing projects, and serving as liaison between Sub-IPT managers, IPT employees, and other program Functions and IPTs.

Regular responsibilities may include the following:

  • Supervising and facilitating the Peer Review process and CPATS training compliance
  • Support of IPT Staff meetings including meeting facilitation, chart compilation, and action item tracking
  • Data aggregation and reporting on IPT charging metrics and financials from MPM data
  • Oversight of Change Request process and collection of impacts
  • Updates and improvements to team SharePoint site and knowledge base resources
  • Scheduling and promoting IPT engagement activities including lunch and learns, team recognition, business area highlights, and composition of periodic IPT highlights for newsletters
  • Maintaining organization charts
  • Submission and tracking of IPT Program Access Requests (PARs)
  • Support of new business proposal writing and team organization
  • Assessment of project issues and development of resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Development of mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Conduct business travel up to 25% of the time from assigned work location to Palmdale or Rancho Bernardo, CA.


Must be highly detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and a skilled communicator.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 6 years’ experience in Project Management, Program Integration/Execution OR Master's degree with 4 years experience in Project Management, Program Integration/Execution
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products
  • Working knowledge of Project Management principles
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within 4 years of last investigation/adjudication
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Special Program Access
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance within 4 years of last investigation / adjudication 
  • Master's Degree
  • Project integration experience
  • Experience Risk/issue/opportunities-
  • Experience in SCIF/SAPF environments
  • experience/certification- Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Proposal writing experience
  • Aerospace and/or Defense Industry Experience

Salary range: $86,300 - $129,500

This position reports to Palmdale, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from San Diego, CA, CA, USA.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
