Northrop Grumman Marine Systems – Cape Canaveral is seeking a Principal Project Manager to manage operational and financial aspects of alteration projects and serve as liaison between the customer, other government agencies, and the internal teams including program management, business management, supply chain, field, logistics, and engineering. This position is a project manager role within the Launcher Program Office located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal and business capabilities. The candidate has excellent communication skills and is comfortable engaging with project stakeholders, functional teams, and both internal and external customers to achieve project goals.  The candidate is committed to ethics, integrity, and innovation while challenging traditional ways of doing business.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee and manage activities of assigned programs/projects
  • Act as the primary contact for both internal and external stakeholders/customers
  • Maintain and review status of project activities to ensure cost, schedule, and technical commitments are being met
  • Be responsible for the compliance to all financial tracking processes such as formal and informal EVMS systems.
  • Coordinate customer meetings (conference room, visitor requests, agenda planning, action items, meeting minutes, etc)
  • Prepare, submit and track letters to customer
  • Support proposal development by gathering and organizing data and preparing cost estimates and rationale
  • Assess project/technical issues and develop corrective actions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Lead status review sessions with internal management and customer to discuss status of project cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Develop and maintain schedules, risk registers, lessons learned, status reports and other project documentation to document project execution and performance
  • Monitors status of procurement and production hardware for assigned projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with 6 years’ experience or Masters with 4 years’ experience
  • Prior experience in Program/Project Management
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management
  • Prior experience working with cross-functional organizations (Program Office, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Business Management, Field Operations, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project and SAP MRP (or similar) system.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of TRIDENT II Launcher Subsystem and Support Equipment
  • Design and operational knowledge of Navy Programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, and problem solving abilities


 


Salary Range: $74,600 USD - $111,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
