Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Project Management Specialist (Level 5) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Division Integration organization. This role will be based in our Melbourne, FL with some opportunity for travel to best support business needs.

The Staff Project Management Specialist will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This unique position will support enterprise integration and operations in the office of the Vice President and General Manager, Global Surveillance Division. The candidate is responsible to support division operations and strategic rhythm that enables oversight of programs, promotes division visibility, and ensures strategic messaging.  This individual contributor will work side by side with division staff and business unit integrators.

The candidate should have a broad understanding and ability to apply many program management tools and techniques to support various needs. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to NG processes and apply them to working internal projects is also critical.  They should have knowledge of industry practices and standards and demonstrate the skill and ability to perform professional tasks. This individual should possess leadership and team building capabilities and have strong interpersonal skills. Must possess solid organization abilities and be a motivated, flexible team player. Some travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports division operations and strategic rhythm
  • Manages performance dashboards to create program visibility at all levels.
  • Supports development of deliverables and talking points for executive level engagements
  • Performs special assignments in areas to include, but not limited to, staffing assessment, employee engagement actions, program management training, and division health.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between business units, programs, project management, functions and IPTs.
  • May be assigned as a lead of projects that have budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers and program leadership.
  • Should be able to creatively solve problems that may not have been encountered before.
  • May be asked to serve as a DOA for division office.
  • Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards. Advanced application of concepts, and principles related to project and program management.
  • Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under only very general supervision.
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals.
  • Frequent internal company and external contacts, including senior and executive leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of experience of related professional/military experience to include a background of program management, project management, budget, contracts, business operations, or business management; OR a Master’s Degree and 13 years’ experience of related professional/military experience to include a background of program management, project management, budget, contracts, business operations, or business management
  • Experience leading projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication including experience briefing senior leadership and groups of various sizes
  • DoD Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years direct experience in project management, program integration/execution within defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in and understanding of Closed Loop Metrics (Tableau)
  • Experience with Tableau to generate reports
  • Experience with Salesforce to edit entries and generate reports
  • Experience with IPRS to generate reports
  • Have held a lead role on a project or implementation
  • Master’s degree in supply chain or an MBA
  • EVMS experience
  • CAM experience


Salary Range: $114,600 USD - $172,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
