Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems (MS) is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer for Industrial Automation and System Integration.

The Manufacturing Project Engineer will be responsible for leading multi-campus onboarding and adoption efforts for the deployment and scaling of Mission PLM (MPLM) capabilities and digital technologies being implemented at Manufacturing & Operations sites across the MS Sector. This will require:

  • collaboration with peer manufacturing and engineering business process owners to prioritize application development tasks including the coordination of user acceptance testing and training to meet deployment schedules

  • establishing and deploying the standard communications to the factory and manufacturing organization that enables digital technology adoption and successful organizational change management

  • onsite engagement with site subject matter experts and organizational leaders to ensure effective implementation and stabilization of digital technologies, applications and tools

What's Great About This Job:
**You will be part of the Manufacturing Digital Technology and Strategy team that is pursuing sector digital transformation and Industry 4.0/Digital Thread efforts. This includes interfacing with the teams developing the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and our Plant Connectivity and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) infrastructure.

The Manufacturing Project Engineer has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the interface between campus personnel, Enterprise Services, and Manufacturing Operations organizations to prioritize, test, communicate and implement MPLM applications and tools

• Create and manage overall project deliverables (tasks, resources, budget and schedules); track project financials, identify and support the acquisition of support services 

• Ensure project plans and deliverables are accurately scoped, budgeted and executed through coordination and meetings with project stakeholders including leadership, program managers, campus personnel, business process owners, and technical subject matter experts (SMEs)

• Identify project risks and implement mitigations  

• Lead the development and communication of business value forecasts and metrics that measure impact of new applications and tools
• Brief Sector Operations and Enterprise Leadership on digital transformation project execution

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS; 0 years with a PhD)

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment 

  • Experience managing or leading projects and/or people with effective communication 

  • Fluency in MS Office software applications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area

  • Experience implementing software applications, tools and hardware solutions in Electromechanical Environments with integrations to other key enterprise solutions (PLM, ERP, MES, LIMS, MRO, etc.)

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems and applications

  • Experience with planning/running organizations and events

  • Experience with Business Process Engineering and Organizational Change Management 

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications: Agilist, Practitioner, Product Owner, Scrum Master

  • Experience with Agile management tools (e.g., TFS or Jira)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
