Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Sr. Manager of Operations to provide leadership for Mixing and Casting, and Flares production in the Promontory Value Stream. This position will be located at Promontory Utah.


The Sr. Manager of Operations will use long range planning methods, tools and facilities in the execution of meeting multiple Customer requirements.  The successful candidate will work with a group of talented managers, OTS, and manufacturing technicians to safely produce a quality product on-schedule and on-budget.  

Job Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated track record for developing and maintaining a strong Safety record both personally and as a leader.  This criterion is the top priority and requirement for this position.

  • Creates and sustains a culture of respect and employee engagement.

  • Accountable for short and long-range planning for a broad array of requirements including safety, product quality, schedule adherence, and meeting cost objectives.

  • Efficiently assigns resources to meet both customer and business needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a cross-functionally collaborative environment to benefit team members and the business.

  • Knows how to implement and effectively execute lean manufacturing techniques and philosophies to foster and drive a culture of continuous improvement, with demonstrated year over year Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements.  

  • Responsible for team member performance management, corrective action, career development, mentoring, and coaching.

Experience Requirements: 

  • Candidate must have:

    • A minimum of 9 years’ related experience.  Prefer that at least 6 years be in an operations leadership position.

    • A complementary safety record both personally and demonstrated as a leader.

    • Strong background leading teams in the safe production of energetics materials and products.

    • A documented history of leading teams in continuous improvement initiatives in the key areas of Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.

    • Demonstrated team leadership skills and ability to collaborate with others for making improvements that ensures safe and on time delivery of quality products.

Experience Preferred: 

  • Leadership experience with multiple and diverse customers

  • Lean Manufacturing experience that includes demonstrated team development and execution of demonstrated improvements utilizing employees and support groups.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong safety knowledge and demonstrated compliance and improvement.

  • Strong leadership/people skills

  • Strong skills in continuous improvement methods.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Presentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate initiatives, plans and expectations.

Education/Certifications
BS degree in Business, Engineering, or other related field required.  


Salary Range: $125,700 USD - $188,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
