Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Project Management Manager 2 for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division Engineering and Manufacturing team. This leadership role will be in Roy, UT and will provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will be responsible for a homeroom Section consisting of ICBM weapon system maintenance Subject Matter Experts (SME) and configuration analysts within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.  You will also fulfill a technical assignment as a lead weapon system SME in support of ICBM-Sustainment projects, programs, and task orders.  As a lead, you will be responsible for the oversight of a team of SMEs and configuration analysts, providing weapon system knowledge, maintenance requirements, missile field operations and support requirements, and successful performance, schedule, and cost for program responsibilities.

As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT.

Essential functions include:

As Functional Homeroom Manager:

• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.

• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.

• Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing

As SME and configuration analysis support:

• Expert in Minuteman III weapon system maintenance and supply processes, procedures, and requirements at both operational wings and depot.

• Support to engineering functions to support Minuteman III System Program Office (SPO) engineering review board requirements.

• Support to engineering functions for technical data development for technical orders, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO), specifications, engineering drawings and other operation and maintenance documents.

• Ability to support multiple programs/projects for performance, schedule, and cost while mentoring/coaching employees in the conduct of their own projects.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of directly related experience.  4 years of direct experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against a schedule.
  • 2+ yrs MMIII weapon system experience
  • 2+ yrs MMIII drawing/spec/tech order experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20 yrs MMIII weapon system experience
  • 20 yrs MMIII drawing/spec/tech order experience.
  • Familiarity with 20th AF and AFGSC processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with MMIII System Program Office (SPO) processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with MMIII Depot Repair processes and procedures
  • Experience in MMIII Missile Maintainer career fields (2M0X1, 2M0X2, 2M0X3)
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $105,600 USD - $158,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
