Northrop Grumman Defense Sector (NGDS) is seeking a Transport Maintenance Manager for the US Army’s Transport Aircraft program to direct all phases of maintenance. 

As the selected Transport Maintenance Manager, you will provide the programmatic, technical and people leadership necessary to deliver mission capable aircraft to globally distributed operational sites. You will help manage and set organization objectives for multiple aircraft sites that combine to form a multidisciplinary team of more than 200 dedicated, diverse professionals including NG personnel and subcontractors.  Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring NG delivers on our contractual commitments, advances our strategic objectives, and provides effective and engaged leadership to the program.

You are responsible for working with program leadership and our subcontractors to ensure appropriate staffing, resources, processes, tools, training, etc. are provided to support successful program execution as well as proactively providing program direction to best leverage NGDS capabilities. NGC Transport Program Management Office is headquartered in Huntsville Alabama.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the schedule and technical performance of a diverse fleet of aircraft across multiple sites with the assistance of Weapons Systems Mangers, Global Supply Chain, Sustainment, and Mission Assurance professionals.

  • Advance program and NG strategic objectives by building and maintaining trusted relationships with customers and other stakeholders, engaging in internal and customer forums related to the programs’ roles.

  • Manage and direct all operational aspects of aircraft maintenance.  Ensures adherence to Northrop Grumman and program policies.

  • Maintains close coordination with the operations, logistics and program manager. Responsible for the direct management of the assigned site managers at all locations.

  • Ensure effective identification and management of issues, risks, and opportunities. Drive issues and decisions to closure.

  • Build and sustain an effective, engaged, and integrated team in a complex, geographically disperse, partner-rich, and dynamic environment.

  • Direct large and small subcontractors and suppliers driving towards alignment on common program objectives and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible as the primary point of contact for program execution in absence of the program manager.

  • Responsible for oversight of maintenance subcontractor. Ensures the subcontractor adheres to Northrop Grumman mutually agreed upon SOW, GOPS/FGOPS and applicable SOPs.

  • Drives performance and quality of maintenance and develops processes and interventions as warranted.  Provides oversight of all maintenance department employees and responsible for all maintenance related CDRLs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years, or Master’s and 8 years experience supporting Aircraft Maintenance and/or project management in military or other industries. In lieu of a degree, 20 years of experience will be considered.

  • Excellent verbal, and written communications skills, as well as collaborative management style, and an inherent drive to deliver on commitments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading medium-large teams of direct and indirect leadership teams to drive successful business and functional outcomes.

  • The ability to establish and apply a technical performance baseline to monitor and compare key program technical performance measures, assess program and product status, and take appropriate action to maintain conformance with the baseline leadership teams to drive successful functional outcomes.

  • The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves issues across all levels of the program.

  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret security clearance.

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • FAA certified airframe or power plant maintenance instructor

  • Previous or current FAA inspector certification

  • Experience on one or more of the following aircraft: C-12,T-6, C-26, UC-35

  • 20 years military or contract maintenance experience on complex turbine aircraft.

  • Previous experience as a program manager for an Aviation CLS activity

  • The ability to manage communications with stakeholders through organized processes to ensure that program information is defined, collected, shared, understood, stored and retrieved in a manner that effectively meets program and stakeholder needs.


Salary Range: $134,400 USD - $201,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
