Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT) Director 1 for the Onboard Test Equipment Development team (OBTE) on the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) IPT. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here. The OBTE IPT Lead is responsible for all test planning, verification execution, vehicle segment assembly, test facilities management, and customer cultivation related to validation and verification of the AVE in a digital model-based environment.

To succeed in this role the ideal candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and willing and able to take on the status quo with respect to business processes and program team roles/responsibilities in a tactful and productive manner while defining new innovative ways of doing business and achieving program objectives in an evolving digital landscape.

In this position, the OBTE IPT Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following focus areas:

Manage and Direct:

Lead and staff a diverse team of engineers and technicians of 50 team members or more while executing a baseline schedule and budget with earned value principals. Scope also includes supplier teammate management work to develop and deliver the needed components to support the final delivery of the OBTE flight system

Plan and Coordinate:

Multiple company system development team deliveries, facilities readiness, test objectives and customers to achieve program objectives including supporting final assembly and qualification of the AVE. Responsibility also includes Air Force and Range Safety customer relationship cultivation and management

System Architecture:
Help lead the design and development of requirements verification decisions within the system architecture in coordination with systems engineering and IPTs

Design Change Impact Assessment:
Ensure that design changes in hardware and software are compatible with existing components and subsystems, particularly for efforts requiring the support of more than one engineering discipline
 

Multi-disciplinary Interface Management:
Develop comprehensive design and interface requirements and lead the verification effort, ensuring cross-functional communication

Requirements-based Testing:
Ensure program master test plans, integration concepts and integration flows developed by the Integrated Operations Team are constructed in a Test Like You Fly manner and verified

First Flight Item and TLYF Management:
Effectively utilize Systems Engineering products such as First Flight/Reuse and TLYF Assessments early in the system architecture and design phase to identify and mitigate risks

Risk Management:
Facilitate risk management process and review board in coordination with the AVE Integration and Test Lead
 

RTCL Management:
Facilitate successful OBTE related planning and execution of real-time hardware and software in the loop testing in coordination with the AVE Test Teams.

May be required to travel up to 25% of the time

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

 Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science in STEM discipline and 10 years of experience, Master’s degree and 8 years of experience, or 6 years of experience with a PhD supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
• 6 years of previous management experience leading large teams
• 6 years of experience with vehicle product development and/or system integration and test principles and test plan development at any level of build (unit, element, segment, etc.)
• Active DoD Secret clearance with latest investigation completed within the last 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
• Launch Vehicle or Aircraft Flight Test Equipment Development or Instrumentation Experience
• Experience with Range Safety launch certification using AF-MAN 91-710
• Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
• Model Based System Engineering – Test planning and verification in MBSE
• Integration and/or test experience assembling launch vehicles for commercial, government or ICBM applications.

Salary Range: $171,100 USD - $256,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
