We are seeking a Thermal Engineering (TCS) Cost Account Manager (CAM) within the Tactical Space Division at Northrop Grumman Space Systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting space flight programs designed to further Human Exploration and Operations (HEO) in Low Earth Orbit and beyond to the Moon and Mars.

This position may be performed in Dulles, VA, Gilbert, AZ, or Houston, Texas. We may also offer candidates the ability to telecommute.

The TCS CAM is responsible for working on a multi-disciplined team of engineers to manage costs and schedule for the design, integration, analysis, production, test and operation of thermal engineering design for manned spacecraft systems.

The TCS CAM’s duties include supporting TCS deliverables as part of an Integrated Team for various programs, following the direction and results of a multi-disciplined engineering development of the space system architecture & elements of for flight program deliverables.  The CAM will be responsible for working with engineering, materials, planners, and procurement, creating estimates, tracking receiving and payments to vendors, supporting technical reviews, tracking labor, and processing budget change requests among other duties.

The TCS CAM position is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to work closely with engineering to manage planning and accounting duties with regards to Space craft and/or Mission design. Candidates must be comfortable working on a dynamic program and able to recognize and mitigate supplier or subcontractor issues while ensuring their assigned program is operating within budget and on schedule.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to all or select programs for the TCS Functional teams
  • Provide cost management assistance to assigned program 
  • Technical management of subcontracted program elements
  • Support contractual space segment technical reviews
  • Write status and technical performance reviews and variance reports

This position may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal Level, based on qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Senior Principal level.

Basic Requirements for Principal Technical Project Manager 3:

  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience; MS Degree with 3 years of industry experience; or a PhD.

Basic Requirements for Senior Principal Technical Project Manager 4:

  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum with a minimum of 9 years of industry experience; Or MS Degree with 7 years of industry experience; or a PhD with 4 years of experience.

Remaining Basic Qualifications for Principal and Senior Principal Technical Project Manager (continued):

  • Experience working in Project Management or as a Project Lead
  • Experience supporting labor, materials, and subcontractor planning and budgets.
  • Experience developing with budget change requests and variance reporting.
  • Experience interfacing with and managing subcontractors.
  • Experience working with aerospace hardware.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of thermal engineering designs within a space environment.
  • Ability to support identification and mitigation of program level risks relating to thermal engineering design
  • Willingness to take initiative to identify program needs and create actionable plans.
  • US Citizenship is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications for Principal and Senior Principal Technical Project Manager:

  • Experience with thermal Hardware
  • Comfortable in establishing/supporting new processes through program flow downs.
  • Experience in aerospace hardware design, integration, and testing.

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
