The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Microelectronics Design and Applications business pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefining the leading edge of exotic new technologies in computation, system security, and AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Transformational Computing (TC) are among our most challenging and exciting fields. In AI we are developing capabilities to apply next-generation AI and machine learning to NGMS solutions. In TC we are leveraging NG proprietary superconducting technologies to transform computing beyond Moore’s Law and advance development of large-scale high-performance computing systems. You will work in a fast-paced team environment alongside many scientists and engineers to make these solutions a reality.
The Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) team is seeking a data scientist who will make significant and ongoing contributions to the maturation of our data-driven processes. You will collect, process and present information, including actionable insights, from multiple disparate data sets. The ideal candidate possesses both the analytical aptitude and problem-solving skillset necessary for extracting value from a collection of novel data sets. In addition to being a highly proficient data analyst, this candidate is expected to foster a data pipeline by engineering analytics that lend themselves to automation and scale. As a function of engaging with stakeholders and taking ownership of outcomes, the candidate can comprehend the general problem space and is confident in socializing, demonstrating, and presenting insights generated from the data.
This position requires work on-site located at Linthicum, MD and/or Annapolis Junction, MD as needed.
Responsibilities for a Tableau Data Engineer:
· Utilize Tableau to build core capabilities used to better decipher and visualize data supporting the needs of a new superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line.
· Collaborate with engineering teams to understand data analysis needs and build custom solutions in Tableau to meet those needs.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to data fidelity, dashboards or reports.
· Work under minimal direction to proactively determine and develop data visualization solutions to meet ever the changing needs of a fast-paced R&D environment.
· Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and verbal format.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 2+ years of relevant experience, STEM Master's with 0 year's experience.
· Proficient in Tableau dashboard creation.
· Experience in modern programing languages (Python, SQL etc.).
· Knowledge of databases concepts and data structure.
· Experienced in data visualization best practices.
· Understand calculated fields, how to implement parameters, level of detail calculations and hierarchies.
· Strong organizational and project management skills, able to execute independently and with a small team.
· Must be willing to work on site 100% of time.
· Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required.
· This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in data science, computer science, software engineering degree.
· Highly skilled in modern programing languages (Python, SQL etc.)
· Skilled in statistical data analysis and modeling.
· Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs.
· Experience with manufacturing datasets and data structures specifically for semiconductor or microelectronics engineering.
· Understands the differences in data representation between products, plans, recipes, and varying levels of manufacturing containers (lots, wafers, die, etc.).
