Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Data Scientist to join the Program Integration Team (PIT).   This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.   

What You’ll Get To Do:

Experienced data scientist with strong problem solving skills and ability to create business intelligent analysis and data visualizations to support leaderships in decision making

The data scientist will work with product owner to develop analytics strategy and apply machine learning and modeling in business intelligence analytics

Strong candidate should meet the following expectations:

• Ability to communicate data and engineering processes

• Ability to present data reports to support investigations and root-cause analysis

• Ability to lead team in technical development of tools to improve pipeline efficiency, eliminate repetitive tasks, and implement new data modeling and machine learning methodologies

• Possess solid communication skills (written, verbal, and visual)

• Comfort with requirements-analysis and stake-holder engagement.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD, 4 additional years in lieu of degree

• Active in-scope DoD secret security clearance and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance

• Proficient in one or more of the following databases platforms: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Hadoop

• Experience with common data science toolkits such as Python/R

• Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS, Alteryx and Tableau Prep

• Ability to stand-up data analytics ecosystems from ETL to data visualization products, i.e., dashboards, analytics applications using the following tools: SQL, Alteryx, SSIS, and Tableau.

• Experience with version control tools such as GitHub/GitLab/Gitbucket

• Understanding of Agile Software Development

• A strong passion for problem solving using empirical research to solve complex problems

• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Understanding / Experience with the use of APIs for data access and integration

• Product Lifecycle experience

• Demonstrate strong UX/UI skill

• Competence and confidence working under pressure on requests with short turn-around times.

• Excellent attention to detail applied to complex data integration and analysis projects.

• Active in-scope DoD security clearance / Able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance

Salary Range: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
