Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Crash Crew Member 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, you will respond to actual or potential ground or flight emergencies to prevent or extinguish fires and rescue aircraft crew and passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicles and equipment
  • Prepositions emergency vehicles at the scene to apply extinguishing agents as necessary for fire control and/or facilitate self-evacuation of aircraft occupants
  • Performs stand-bys for aircraft engine runs, fueling and defueling, fuel cell maintenance, and all other related high-hazardous aircraft testing procedures
  • Requires certification in operation and maintenance of ARFF vehicles and other equipment, general and aircraft-related firefighting principles, procedures and techniques; including capabilities of extinguishing agents; use of self-contained breathing apparatus; aircraft entry procedures and methods, both normal and forcible; general and location-specific knowledge of aircraft construction, including fuel, oil, and electrical systems, non-weapon ordnance, and ejection seats

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School diploma AND 5 years of related professional/military experience
  • Must be qualified as a ARFF vehicle driver/operator
  • Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to start
  • Must pass a firefighter physical
  • Must have the ability to perform duties and tasking with limited supervision
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Please note, the salary range listed reflects full time hours worked. Salaries for on-call work will be pro-rated based on the weekly scheduled hours. This role's weekly, scheduled hours may vary.

This position reports to Melbourne, FL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Melbourne, FL, FL, USA.


Salary Range: $48,800 USD - $81,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
