Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking an Sr. Staff Engineer Systems. This position will be located in Orlando, FL. This opportunity will act in a technical leadership role and experience formalizing systems engineering life-cycle processes. NGDS is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense. Our Team performs a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, and deployment of complex DoD systems worldwide.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Perform requirements analysis and develop system architectures mapped to requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science in a STEM degree; 12 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 9 Years of relevant experience with PhD
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the area of information technology, to include: Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specification, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements. 
  • Five (5) years of technical experience in support of development, testing, and implementation of Department of Navy requirements, programs and/or projects. Experience may be achieved simultaneously
  • Active DoD Secret clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux, Scripting, VMWare
  • RF Experience
  • 3 Years’ experience in Operating systems including:
    • RHEL 7 and 8 scripting, deployment, virtualization, C/C++ development, and addressing DTOs and Fortify scans.
    • Windows Server 2008R2, 2016, and 2019 deployment, virtualization, SCAP securing, and addressing DTOs and Fortify scans.
    • VMware ESXi 6.7 and 7 scripting, deployment, virtualization, and securing.
    • Performing continual ACAS IAVM and SCAP scans on all systems.
    • Developing new virtualized OS images and deploying images to various systems.
  • 3 Years’ experience in Network management including:
    • Management and configuration of Cisco 2900 and 4000 series routers through SSH and IOS including VLANs, routing, BGP, and trunks.
    • Solarwinds, HBSS, and syslog server and client configuration, deployment, and maintenance
    • Thorough understanding of DISA classified and unclassified data and voice network architectures including VOSIP, DSN, NPRNET, and SIPRNET networks.
  • 3 years’ experience in SATCOM including:
    • DoD type 1 Voice and data cryptographic devices, including black and red interfaces, keying, and interoperability with DoD tactical Radios.
    • Narrowband SATCOM terminals such as RT-1828, PSC-5, and PRC-152A, including configuration for operation in dedicated, DAMA, and IW waveforms.
    • Setting up, configuring, and operating an end-to-end simulated narrowband SATCOM environment, including diplexers, mixers, RF generators, splitters, and combiners.
    • Understanding of the SAR/GAR process.
  • 3 Years’ experience in VOIP Telephony including:
    • Cisco Unified Call manager 8 and 11
    • Cisco VOIP phone systems including 7911 and 303
    • Asterisk PBX and Incredible PBX


Salary Range: $154,300 USD - $231,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
