Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) currently seeks to fill a multidisciplinary role in the Huntsville Hardware Engineering Team. This team provides integration design solutions for land, sea and mobile C4ISR systems. The qualified applicant will be responsible for supporting a team of approximately 120 engineers and staff in an array of technical design-related areas.
This will consist of communication with engineers at various skill level to communicate design format considerations using tact, persuasion and/or negotiation to ensure that designs are prepared in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.
Anticipated responsibilities
-- 50% CAD design, drawing, and model checking across multiple programs
-- 20% Support development of common drawing practices and techniques
-- 20% Maintain database of common components and approved vendors
-- 10% Education/Training of personnel to ensure use of correct design formats and techniques
Basic Qualification:
This requisition may be filled at either a grade level 3 or level 4.
BQs for a Draftman 3 is High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
BQs for a Draftsman 4 is High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience
-- Minimum 4-6 years of experience designing or checking mechanical parts and assemblies and drawings
-- Strong understanding of drafting and modeling standards in accordance with ASME Y14.xxx standards
-- Familiarity with industry and DoD design standards including MilSpec, NAS, SME, ASME
-- Machine shop, sheetmetal shop or cable harness manufacturing a plus
-- Strong understanding of CAD and product data structure, configuration management practices, technical data packages IAW MIL-DTL-31000, engineering change management practices, and Bills of Material
-- Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining and assembly processes to support design activities
-- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
-- Associate degree in a related technical discipline
