SSSD has an opening for an EDM Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing various EDM work on both Wire to Sinker EDM machines. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Setting up and operating multiple EDM machines and machine-critical hardware to the required tolerance. To meet estimated completion dates by performing optimizing machining techniques. To develop and fabricate fixtures to perform EDM operations. To operate CNC\Conventional machines to fabricate electrodes on Milling, Lathe, and Grinding machines. To have experience using Mastercam to program to transfer data to the EDM machines.
The applicant should also be well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI 14.5M 1982/1994 specifications to interpret actual position and tolerance requirements. Also, to be able to work by written instructions and sketches.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- AA\AS Degree plus five years of experience as an EDM Machinist or High School Diploma/GED and ten years of experience as an EDM Machinist.
- Experience in interpreting Cad drawings.
- Experience in the aerospace industry as an EDM Machinist
- Experience in setup and producing parts with minimum supervision
- Experience in operating wire and Sinker EDM using Graphite and copper electrodes.
- Experience in working with exotic materials such as Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Stainless, Aluminum, etc.
- Experience in the use of an Optical comparator to perform the inspection.
- Experience in understanding surface finish
- Knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- A strong knowledge of both CNC\Conventional milling, lathe, and grinding operations.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Fanac and Sodick EDM machines.
- Experience with Mastercam 2020 and above.
- Experience with Haas and Fadal CNC machines.
