Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Configuration Analyst/ Principal Configuration Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida and will be focused on supporting Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Configuration and Data Management activities.

Position Summary/Responsibilities

Change Management

  • Facilitate change boards including Configuration Control and Technical Review Boards
  • Establish and maintain configuration management libraries to include document, software, and hardware configuration items
  • Plans and coordinates preparation of project documentation, such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer contract requirements are met
  • Performs Configuration Status Accounting and Metrics generation on change management activities

Data Management

  • Perform Contract and Supplier Data Requirements activities to include planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery
  • Manage and document the change package lifecycle from initiation to closure of the packages and verify the implementation in complete and status records are updated
  • Review documents for correct markings based on contract and company guidance
  • Perform Configuration Status Accounting and Metrics generation on data management activities
  • Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system. Coordinates modification records for management control. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Configuration Analyst: Master’s degree and 1 year of professional work experience in DoD configuration and/or data management; a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional experience as a configuration analyst, OR 7 years of professional work experience in a DoD configuration and/or data management may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • Principal Configuration Analyst: Master’s degree and 4 years of professional work experience in DoD configuration and/or data management; a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of professional experience as a configuration analyst, OR 10 years of professional work experience in a DoD configuration and/or data management role may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to start  
  • Must have experience using SharePoint and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills to include the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Understanding of configuration management principles / best practices to include configuration status accounting 
  • Understanding of DoD Contracts to include interpreting Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) requirements


Salary Range: $60,600 USD - $90,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $74,600 USD - $111,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
