Overview

Reporting to the AOX Engineering Director, the Configuration Manager (CM) will be responsible for the management of configuration items, documentation, policy/process, training, change management and policy enforcement.  The CM will also be the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system administrator who will help facilitate the transition the organization’s configuration data, policies and procedures to a modern PLM system.  The CM will be the focal point for all configuration control activities related to hardware and software configuration items and documentation which requires collaboration with customers, program management, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, suppliers and other partners. 

This position can be located in Devens, MA, or East Hartford, CT.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of hardware, software and system configuration management processes and procedures in development, production and sustainment environments

  • Serves as local Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Change Management, Configuration and Release Management for supporting external requests, data calls, and Contract Deliverables (CDRL) reporting to the Program Office.

  • Provide configuration and change management procedure guidance and training

  • Use of configuration management tools to store, track, and manage configuration items

  • Implement/Maintain hardware and software version control processes, policies and procedures

  • Reviews documentation in release cycle for completeness, proper authorizations, system impacts and class designation

  • Develops configuration and change management policies

  • Develops program specific configuration management plans that meets contractual requirements

  • Responsible for Class I / Class II Change Control

  • Performs configuration audits on established product baselines to include PCA and FCA’s

  • Support product, process, and CM database audits in accordance with customer and corporate requirements to maintain AS9100 compliance

  • Estimate Configuration Management costs for programs and proposals

  • Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure CM is being executed in accordance with CM policies and procedures

  • Maintain and report on department metrics

  • Function as Configuration Control Board Chairperson

  • PLM system implementation and administration

  • Lead configuration data transition from legacy to modern PLM system

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree and a minimum of 12 years of experience (9 years minimum in Configuration Management or Document Management role)

  • Experience implementing or transitioning PLM systems

  • Knowledge of EIA-649B and MIL-STD-973 Configuration Management Principles as they apply to both Hardware and Software

  • Experience with Adobe Pro, Confluence as well as the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs to include MS Project and Visio (or similar)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Understands configuration management software

  • Direct experience managing hardware and software configuration items and documentation

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JIRA

  • Teamcenter

  • Active Top Secret clearance

Physical Demands
  • Domestic travel between Devens and East Hartford 20-40% of the time

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and light physical effort required

This position reports to Devens, MA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from East Hartford, CT, CT, USA.


Salary Range: $122,200 USD - $183,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
