Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, in Buffalo, N.Y. is seeking an Electronic Technician 2 (Day shift) with experience testing and troubleshooting electronic systems.  The Electronic Technician will test products that are components in Electronic Warfare simulation systems and will also perform assembly duties as required for workflow. 

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Tests and troubleshoots RF products including RF drawer, discrete RF components and microelectronic parts in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.

  • Tests and troubleshoots digital circuit cards in accordance with specifications and engineering instructions.

  • Analyzes equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in products and integrated test systems

  • Diagnoses malfunctions using schematics, wiring diagrams, source control drawings and other test procedures and equipment.

  • Removes, replaces and/or repairs system issues as required.

  • Performs RF tuning on microelectronics, which requires working under a microscope for much of the work day.

  • Modifies avionics systems according to technical publications or engineering drawings

  • Performs equipment maintenance or calibration on test equipment as required.

  • Performs assembly processes as needed to maintain workflow.

  • Records and ensures validity of entries into data collection and test systems.

  • Interprets and recommends corrective action to test findings.

  • Executes proper documentation of actions performed in applicable forms.

  • Writes or modifies test procedures.

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Ability to learn tasks under microscope on very small assemblies with outstanding manual dexterity and precision.

  • Assists other functional team members with any associated tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree in an electronic field of study; or 2 years of U.S. military electronic schooling may be considered.

  • Experience testing and troubleshooting RF and digital equipment. 

  • Experience working with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.

  • Manual dexterity with the ability to handle and assemble small parts

  • U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on use of the drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, or test procedures.

  • Experience working with microelectronics and performing tuning under a microscope.

  • Experience working with engineering teams.

  • Experience with soldering and electronic assembly processes.

  • Working knowledge of defense electronics, with a preference to Electronic Warfare systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working in a performance based and metrics driven culture.

MANUMS


Salary Range: $47,100 USD - $78,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
