Propulsion Systems is currently seeking an Engineering Technician 2 to support our Test and Research Operations team at our Promontory, Utah location.

Job Description:

Successful candidate will perform setup, assembly, fabrication, and configuration of articles in support of multiple composite, nozzle, and insulation programs.  The Engineering Technician performs hands on activities/tasks associated with the development of rocket motor materials and components. Tasks may include but are not limited to tooling assembly/disassembly, mixing, and applying liner/paint/bond materials, use of various chemicals, composites fabrication, and performing material testing. Job function requires use of standard computer skills, and use of standard shop tools and equipment. Candidate will be required to review and implement test plans, drawings, specifications, and planning in support of various projects. Implementation of continuous improvement using 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles will be required. Engineering Technicians are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of work area and facilities, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Participates as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance of their team.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree preferred but not required or three years of applicable experience.

  •  Strong technical background in mechanics, electronics, or industrial machinery is a plus.

  • Ability to receive and follow specific instructions from policies, procedures, planning and supervision.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate technical information with clarity.

  • Ability to read, interpret and implement technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.

  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.

  • Ability to work a physically demanding day (stand for long periods; work from your knees; ascend and descend ladders; lift, bend, twist push and pull up to 50 lbs.) while wearing protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye, and ear protection, etc.)

  • Must be willing to perform shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license


Salary Range: $44,800 USD - $74,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
