Northrop Grumman, Space Systems – Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Program Manager 1 to lead the Space Launch System (Artemis) Production Support Equipment (PSE), Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Facilities Maintenance team for the KSC (Florida) Booster Fabrication Facility.

Role description:

The successful Program Manager candidate will lead a highly skilled team of technicians and engineers in ensuring the readiness of PSE/GSE/Facilities while achieving cost and schedule objectives for the SLS Booster Forward Assembly and Aft Skirt Assembly value streams at KSC.

Critical will be effective communication with external and internal customers.  Emphasis will be on safe operations, financial performance, schedule performance, and technical expertise.  The position is located at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Job Duties:  
The Program Manager is responsible to:

• Ensure all PSE/GSE and Facility systems are compliant and available to support SLS Booster assembly and test operations

• Successfully accomplish objectives while managing financial and budget performance using such tools as Earned Value Management (EVM).  Establish cause of budget variances and issue corrective actions.

• Manage SLS Booster program Control Account Managers to ensure programmatic EVMS requirements are satisfied.

• Work closely and collaboratively with customers to integrate Northrop Grumman and NASA base support maintenance activity with no impact to manufacturing operations.

• Directly lead a cross functional team of engineers with a wide range of skill sets, Ensure roles and responsibilities of team members are well understood and executed.

• Communicate with PSE/GSE and Facility team, with NG leadership, and with our NASA customer via oral/written mediums, including memo, white paper, policies and procedures, and formal presentations.

• Manage subcontractor actions and performance, including Security service contract. 

• Drive technical excellence by setting standards, working closely with the technical and production teams to delivering performance.

• Motivate the team, establishing and sustaining a culture of accountability, process improvements and trusting relationships.

• Assert themselves to overcome obstacles

• Ensure adequacy of systems, procedures, and people for long term success.

Experience Requirements:

• BS degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment, 2 years of which included Program Management experience.

• Supervisory experience leading multi-discipline teams.

• A working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems design, fabrication, maintenance practices, and testing methods 

• Project management using earned value measurement system principles

• Demonstrated positive experience communicating with leadership, coaching and building effective teams

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in STEM discipline.  A non-technical degree may be considered if applicant has applicable work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to use excellent decision and risk management skills to meet safety, technical, schedule, and financial requirements

• A record of making informed, unbiased decisions for the good of the team; driven by measurable results

• Excellent external and internal communication and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated strong ability to work in a challenging environment with competing priorities in a positive manner

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, executive leadership, and customer partners

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $106,400 USD - $133,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
