Engineering Electronics Technician 4 (Plant Wide Support)

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Engineering Technician 4.  This position will be supporting our Beavercreek, and Kettering, OH. facilities, and requires onsite presence due to the nature of the role.  We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications.

The Engineering Technician 4 will provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks including - gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analysis of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Use a personal computer in performance of analysis and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

• Radar cross section measurements within the compact range including frequency domain, time domain, and ISAR imaging techniques
• Instrumented, coherent radar testing and data reduction/ calibration with analysis using time domain techniques
• Radar cross section linear SAR measurements using the linear FM homodyne radar test set in an uncooperative factory environment
• Transmission and reflection arch measurements and data analysis using a vector network analyzer
• Range and radar analytics through physics and mathematics
• Performance of antenna gain and pattern measurements
• Writing reports and packaging data for customers
• Range and measurement techniques continuous improvement
• Repair, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment belonging to the RF Test group including radar equipment, anechoic chamber, parabolic reflector dish, antennas, and test equipment

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working independently and in a team environment, has high energy, a desire to learn, enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting, maintenance, and producing precise and accurate data products, can lead small groups through daily tasking and is able to instruct junior technicians in test procedures and the theory behind them.

*The job includes minimal travel and is primarily a first shift position, although some periods of off shift work may be required when necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience
• Ability to perform mathematical equations
• Ability to understand mechanical drawings and electrical / electronic schematics
• Familiarity with operation and use of testing tools (e.g., Spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, function generators, network analyzers, and power meters)
• Ability to work within MS applications i.e., MS Word, Excel, Flow Charts, Vizio, and Adobe PDF (with the ability to create, edit, log and track data in spreadsheets)
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to the fundamentals of radar, RF antennas, transmitters, and receivers
• Work experience in RF test
• Experience in Radar Cross Section testing within the compact range and or a far field range
• Experience in instrumented broad band, coherent radar data reduction, calibration 
• Experience in VSWR measurements
• Exposure to linear FM SAR measurement equipment.
• Soldering, J-STD certification a plus
• Familiarity and use of Matlab to solve equations a plus

This position reports to Beavercreek, OH, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Kettering, OH, OH, USA.

Salary Range: $66,500 USD - $110,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
