What does your role involve?

It ensures that our suppliers meet the high standards that we and our customers expect, including the products and services they supply us with and the regulatory and legislative requirements for the sectors that we operate within.

Our team is growing and establishing the framework required for Northrop Grumman Australia to develop and innovate in Australia whilst meeting the requirements of our certified Quality Management System and the customer. It’s an exciting time to be here.

Travis Culverwell

Tell us about you/your background.

I originally trained and served as a helicopter engineer in the Royal Air Force (UK) before moving to Australia in 2012 and working at some of Australia’s largest flying academies as an Operations Manager and Head of Aircraft Airworthiness and Maintenance Control (HAAMC). Before joining Northrop Grumman Australia I was a Quality and Safety Manager for two aircraft and component maintenance organisations.

What makes Northrop Grumman Australia different /special?

Northrop Grumman Australia has a refreshing difference around culture and management style. Our leaders encourage contribution from the team ensuring we have a high performing environment that isn’t afraid to call out something that needs fixing. This creates buy-in and motivation to innovate and add value to our operations at every opportunity.

What has been the highlight of your career so far at Northrop Grumman Australia?

Early in 2022 we were engaged by Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in the US to help conduct a supplier audit on a major F-35 supplier in Adelaide, SA. It involved getting up to speed with their procedures quickly and then conducting the audit and managing the key stakeholders on site. Whilst challenging, it was a great learning experience and even resulted in an award being issued to myself and another member of the audit team. This was very unexpected and humbling and I hope is the first of many chances to assist our US colleagues in future.
