Naval Control and Management Systems

Integrated Platform Management Systems

The Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS), sometimes referred to as a Machinery Control System, is a sophisticated control system solution for naval vessels such as surface ships, submarines and, potentially, unmanned vehicles.

Using advanced computer-based technology to control and monitor platform machines and on-board systems, our current generation of IPMS comprises sensors, actuators, remote terminal units and data processing to provide safe, secure, condition-based control, monitoring and diagnostics on the status of a ship and its major systems.

Operators work with intuitive touch screen display technology via rugged consoles, or portable displays to monitor from anywhere on the vessel, on a network ring which enables multiple workstations and computers to be connected without incurring excess weight and cabling or restricting space.

Digital Transformation

We are implementing a flexible modular design, with open standard technologies, advanced networking and high levels of automation to provide a safe, secure, scalable and cost effective range of integrated turn-key solutions to ensure IPMS continues to provide a versatile and expandable solution in the future.

Our IPMS will also take advantage of technological advancements in the use of Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, enabling better “information advantage” and better decision making capability, allowing for advanced data management through advanced features ensuring the user has the best available capability while reducing whole life costs.

Defence Integrated Bridge System

Our Defence Integrated Bridge System technology, developed and supplied to meet a broad range of ship’s requirements, seamlessly integrates all systems on board to support safe navigation and multiple missions from the bridge.

Our Defence IBS supports navigation functions required by naval vessels, including radar, machinery control systems WECDIS and C4ISR. Naval features support the crew with guiding helicopters, tracking fast moving targets, intercept guidance and exchanging data with other systems on-board.

Delivering the Complete Picture

Surveillance capabilities add additional sensors to the bridge including radars, EO-IR cameras and radio direction finders to detect and identify targets and improve situational awareness on the vessel.

Tactical data exchanges enable the exchange of a Common Operating Picture (COP) between the vessel, its deployed assets, such as helicopters or interceptors, ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore based facilities.

This COP can combine operational data such as tracks, overlays, screenshots, video or mission data from various land and sea based sources.
