Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Test Engineer (Air Vehicle Management) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the aircraft configuration, technician tasking, and modification schedule of the Flying Test Bed to support mission objectives within program budget and schedule
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to develop detailed cross functional modification schedules based on preliminary Engineering data.
- Coordinates aircraft availability to maximize test flights and ground integration time
- Drive quick issue resolution during MX and Modification to ensure on-time completion
- Execute Liaison role between Test, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and MX to ensure quick communication of technical issues
- Oversees long lead modification planning to ensure the modifications are executable in the allotted span as well as highlight potential technical issues
- Executes key airworthiness tasks to ensure FTB maintains its compliance with FAA, NG, and customer airworthiness processes
- Manages GV parts procurement life cycle to include replacement part ordering, tracking, receiving, and maintaining a spares parts inventory. To include component repair and overhaul.
- Responsible for managing procurement activities with third party suppliers to support aircraft parts and services procurement.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 14 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in test and/or aircraft operations OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 12 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in test and/or aircraft operations OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 9 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in test and/or aircraft operations
- Must have FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate with experience on FAA Part 91 Experimental category aircraft.
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience operating within the Manufacturing and Flight Line environments for commercial or business aviation
- Experience with Supply Chain Management, focusing on parts procurement and purchase order fulfilment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Existing Program Access
- Understanding / knowledge of Gulfstream aircraft modification, engineering, and airworthiness support
- Experience with SAP / EPS / S4 or similar
- FAA part 145 Repair Station experience
- Significant experience FAA Special Airworthiness / Experimental Certification processes
