Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Sector is seeking a leader to fill an open Manager Digital Engineering 1 position in the Airborne Multifunction Sensor Engineering organization based in Baltimore, MD. The manager will lead a team of highly qualified, diverse individuals in Digital Technology. Digital Technology is responsible for creating complex FPGA, ASIC, System on the Chip, Circuit Card Assembly and Digital Subsystem designs for all electronic systems applications from undersea to outer space. The individual will be responsible for managing a digital design group with staff located in Baltimore, MD.
The Manager Digital Engineer 1 role will focus on digital technologies team leadership, program execution, engineering process, and staff development. The ideal leader will be able to cultivate an engaging and productive team culture while supporting staff’s professional development and career growth.
Roles and responsibilities:
- People leadership for an engineering design organization, to include performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning.
- Provide project and technical oversight for design activities performed by the group.
- Provide ownership of and direction to the design processes used in the group.
- Provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers.
- Support department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded project leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
- U.S Citizenship is required.
- An active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
- Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of Agile project management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
- US Citizen and active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance.
- Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader.
- Experience with Agile development for software or hardware systems.
- Experience leading teams in a functional, programmatic, or technical capacity.
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain or maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
