Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network – Network Engineer III (24-146) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of the Colorado Springs, CO area.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Must be a proven network engineer with hands-on mid-level experience and knowledge of network design, development, and testing methodologies.
- Must understand the OSI Model, TCP/IP, routing protocols BGP and OSPF.
- Must have network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Must have firewall experience, especially Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
- Must have experience in UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
- Must have hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizer, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
- Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
- Must thrive and work in a collaborative and agile environment.
- Must understand standard DOD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.
- Familiarization with virtualization technologies
- Responsible for planning, deploying, integrating, and testing upgrades to the C2BMC network to operational sites.
Basic Qualifications:
Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume if applicable.
- An active Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
- 5 Years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 9 years experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
- Primary network Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program.
- Candidate will be responsible for traveling to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently troubleshoot, and provide status updates to Program personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active top-secret clearance is highly desired.
- NFV, SDWAN, VMware, VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, vSAN, and Aria are desired.
- Experience with network automation using Ansible is desired.
- Prior C2BMC experience is desired.
- Must be able to travel to alternate work locations, such as Schriever Space Force Base, Alaska, Guam, Europe, etc., to execute job duties such as deployments.
