Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Configuration Analyst or Principal Configuration Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This position will be located in Redondo Beach (Space Park), California. This role may also require occasional odd shifts or weekend work. Expected travel for this role will require about 10% work at Edwards AFB.
In this role, you will focus heavily on document creation, control and management. You will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining the processes for engineering documents going through the Document Control and Release process.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain Configuration Management Command Media, Work Instructions and perform updates as required.
- Perform CDM metrics on a weekly basis and support Program prep meetings.
- Oversee the Engineering Release activities for the F-35 Support Equipment (SE) IPT. Including Build-To-Package (BTP), Specification Control Drawings (SCD), Tech Packages and Engineering Schedule Change Record (ESCR) approvals.
- Understanding of BTP, SCD and Tech package requirements and associated supporting engineering business items and data, BTP/SCD Lifecycle (workflow) execution, IUID Role Assignment and formal engineering release.
- Proficient in or willingness to be trained on TeamCenter Enterprise (PDM), Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) tools, understanding of Bill-of-Materials (Engineering & Manufacturing) and product structure.
- Support CDM Technical Leads with review and analysis of released engineering change data; coordinating changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.
- Knowledge or understand Sustainment Contract requirements for Support Equipment Suppliers and manage. Track SE Supplier Data Requirement List (SDRL) requirements.
- Knowledge or understand Program Item Unique Identification (IUID) requirements and IUID submittal efforts.
- Ability to interface with other organizations to resolve issues associated with IUID record discrepancies such as Global Supply Chain (GSC) Planning, Procurement and Subcontracts, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.
- Meticulous attention to detail while maintaining control over all documents in flow.
- Able to support audit processes, update procedures, and communicate effectively and clearly.

This position may be filled at either the Configuration Analyst or Principal Configuration Analyst, based on the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications
At the Configuration Analyst Level:
- Must have a Bachelors degree with 3 years of related professional/military experience in Project Management and / or Configuration Management OR a Master’s degree with 1 year of related professional/military experience in Project Management and / or Configuration Management, or 8 years of related professional / military experience in Project Management and / or Configuration Management in lieu of a degree.
At the Principal Configuration Analyst Level:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related professional/military experience in Project Management and /or Configuration Management or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related professional/military experience in Project Management and / or Configuration Management, or 10 years of related professional / military experience in Project Management and /or Configuration Management in lieu of a degree.
At either level:
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret or higher clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Experience with Project Management and/or Configuration Management.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively team with multiple organizational disciplines.
- Candidates must have a proficient knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Familiarity with FAR/DFAR/DCMA.
- Experience developing, evaluating or auditing plans, processes and procedures.
- Experience with Teamcenter.
- Experience with Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing and Test documentation.
- Familiarity with Cost/schedule/budget concepts and tools (EVMS, SAP, etc.)
- DoD secret clearance, ability to obtain Program Access (PAR).
- Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-61A and EIA-649, National Consensus Standard for Configuration Management.
