Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Operates modern analytical instrumentation.
- Samples raw materials from bulk supplies for lab testing.
- Performs standard analytical test methods for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation.
- Provides technical support to plant personnel on a variety of technical tasks.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Follows engineering documentation requirements including specifications and drawings.
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas.
- Performs quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
- Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
- Disposes of raw materials per regulatory guidelines
- Communicates with multiple departments on a daily basis.
- Monitors gauge and instrument calibrations. Ensures calibration cycles are not exceeded.
- Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.
- Makes and records observations; performs simple calculations; collects and prepares data for evaluation; and documents results in lab notebook and lab management system.
- Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment; arranging and dismantling apparatus; and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.
- Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
- Communicates effectively as part of a team.
- Maintains the highest safety standards by following documented procedures.
- Maintains high ethical standards of work and personal conduct.
- Ability to change job assignments to support program’s needs.
- Ability to multitask.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-year Technology Degree OR 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting required for a level 2.
- 2-year Technology Degree OR 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting required with 2 years of additional experience for a level 3,
- Ability to routinely lift 30 pounds and ability to work in tight spaces.
- Experience working in an analytical lab.
- Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Proficient in MS office.
- Ability and willingness to provide coverage on weekends and off shifts as needed.
- Experience handling energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solvents preferred.
