Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) located in Baltimore, MD is seeking a leader to manage its growing Test Design Engineering team reporting to the Hardware Synergy Test Design Section Manager of the Hardware Synergy Department. The individuals reporting to this manager are responsible for developing and maintaining Test Solutions for the purpose of verifying the design or the build of the product. Group skills include the understanding of standard tests for RF/Microware, Digital and Power Conversion products, knowledge of COTS test equipment, ability to writing Test Software to control a Unit Under Test and Test Equipment, and the ability to work hands on with electronics.
This position is an onsite dual role encompassing both people and project/technical leadership. This position will maintain an 80/20 split as an individual contributor and a manager, respectively.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead an engineering functional group of 10 to 15 engineers including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
- Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group
- Ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the group
- Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
- Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups
- Support department initiatives, recruiting, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded projects
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree.
- Minimum 7 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team or technical lead; 3 years with a Masters degree.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of RF, Digital, and Power Conversion Test Equipment and Measurement Techniques
- Understanding of the Design, Manufacturing and Test Integration process
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
Preferred Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree
- 10 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
- Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader
- Strong understanding of RF, Digital, and Power Conversion Test Equipment and Measurement Techniques
- Demonstrated success in understanding or creating test plans to prove requirements compliance
- Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance
