Responsibilities
- A Supplier Quality Engineer works with internal business units and suppliers to address ongoing supplier quality issues, continued improvement of suppliers, and ensuring suppliers meet quality requirements.
- Serve as the Safety & Mission Assurance point of contact for suppliers and work with internal customers in support of supplier quality issues.
- Perform supplier quality system assessments and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with the Space Sectors Common Supplier Management Council to address sector level quality issues.
- Be the Supplier Assurance Quality Lead for supplier quality issues and internal customers.
- Lead effective supplier root cause and corrective action for non-conforming hardware.
- Support Failure/Material Review Boards (F/MRBs) to ensure the timely disposition of non-conforming products.
- Performed maintenance activities of the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Lead and manage continuous improvement projects for the Supplier Assurance Group.
- Perform source inspections at the supplier’s facility for mandatory inspection points.
- Lead and manage SCARs to timely root cause investigation, implementation and closure.
- Responsible for KPI’s and reporting supplier performance metrics for monthly reviews.
- Travel to field sites for audit or inspection purposes
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or management discipline preferred (equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Minimum of 9 years experience in engineering function including work experience in technical field related to manufacturing, quality assurance, or engineering
- Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
- U.S. citizen
- Previous use and full comprehension of various Cause Analysis tools, such as Ishikawa/Fishbone, FMEA, DOE, etc.
- Able to read engineering documentation and perform inspections to drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and other types of engineering-developed instructions
- Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing Principles and/or Six Sigma Principles in some facet of work history
- Willingness to travel to field sites for audit or inspection purposes
- Achieve ASQ Certification as CQE (or equivalent from another organization)
- Achieve Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from accredited institution
- Fluent in use of Quality System and ERP/MRP databases, such as TIPQA or CP
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASQ Certification as CQE (or equivalent from another organization)
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from accredited institution
- Experience with inspecting printed circuit board assembly (PWBs) and circuit card assembly (CCAs)
- IPC-J-Std-001 IPC-A-610 soldering certified
