Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Machinist 2/Machinist 3. This position will be supporting our Beavercreek, OH and Kettering, OH facilities and requires onsite presence due to the nature of the role. We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications.
The role will be responsible for setting up and operating 3 and 5 Axis Milling Machines. This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist who desires exciting and challenging work to join our team!
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
- Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.
- Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Perform computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Program and edit G-Code and conversational.
- Implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
The ideal candidate will be able to work under minimal supervision, be a quick learner, and a team player. He / She will have high integrity and understand the importance of escalating errors to their supervisor immediately.
*This position requires the ability to work a WEEKEND DAY shift schedule from 6:00am – 6:30pm Friday - Sunday. Shift differential will be paid during eligible times.
This role can be filled at a Machinist 2 or Machinist 3 depending on the qualifications below
Basic Qualifications for a Machinist 2:
- High school diploma or equivalent/GED and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
- Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to start
- Must be able to pass an Eye Exam prior to start
- Experience running machines and setup
- Experience on 3 Axis CNC machines
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience with 5 Axis CNC vertical machining centers.
- Active Secret DoD Security Clearance
- Associates degree or Trade School certification
- Experience with composite, honeycomb, and aluminum materials
